Holy God, We Praise Thy Name Bells Version (.mp3)
1. Holy God, we praise thy name;
Lord of all, we bow before thee;
all on earth thy scepter claim;
all in heaven above adore thee.
Infinite thy vast domain;
everlasting is thy reign.
2. Hark the glad celestial hymn
angel choirs above are raising;
cherubim and seraphim,
in unceasing chorus praising,
fill the heavens with sweet accord:
Holy, holy, holy Lord.
3. Lo! the apostolic train
joins thy sacred name to hallow;
prophets swell the glad refrain,
and the white-robed martyrs follow.
And from morn to set of sun,
through the church the song goes on.
4. Holy Father, Holy Son,
Holy Spirit: three we name the,
though in essence only one;
undivided God we claim thee,
and adoring bend the knee
while we own the mystery.

Devotion based on the hymn “Holy God, We Praise Thy Name”
Scripture:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!” Isaiah 6:3 (ESV)
Reflection:
The hymn “Holy God, We Praise Thy Name” is a majestic declaration of God's eternal power and glory. Inspired by the ancient Te Deum Laudamus, it echoes with the voices of angels, martyrs, apostles, and believers throughout the ages—lifting praise to the One who was, and is, and is to come.
The word holy means “set apart”, utterly pure, beyond compare. God’s holiness is not just one of His characteristics; it is the essence of who He is. When we sing, “Holy God, we praise Thy name; Lord of all, we bow before Thee,” we’re doing more than just singing—we're kneeling in our hearts before a throne that never shakes.
In Isaiah 6, when the prophet saw the Lord high and lifted up, surrounded by seraphim crying, “Holy, holy, holy”, he was undone. That’s what real worship does. It reminds us of how great God is and how much we need Him.
Yet here’s the beauty: the same holy God who is enthroned in heaven came near to us in Jesus Christ. The One praised by angels is also the One who walked dusty roads, touched lepers, and died for our sins. The hymn moves from heavenly awe to personal praise, uniting our worship with the eternal chorus.
Takeaway Thought:
God’s holiness isn’t meant to drive us away, it invites us to draw near in awe, surrender, and love. Worship isn’t about our feelings; it’s about the worth of the One we adore. He is holy, and He is near.
Prayer:
Holy God, we praise Your name. You are worthy of all glory, honor, and worship. Teach us to live in reverence of Your holiness and to echo the song of heaven in our daily lives. Let our hearts bow before You in everything we do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Challenge for Today:
Pause for five minutes of quiet worship. No requests, no distractions, just sit and praise God for who He is. Sing the hymn aloud if you can. Let His holiness reshape your day.
